Ashford Castle has announced that Meet the Winemakers, a weekend featuring some of the world’s most distinguished wines and winemakers, will return for its third season.
The event will take place over the February bank holiday weekend, from 2 to 4 February 2024.
Two-Night Experience
Meet the Winemakers offers guests the opportunity to enjoy fine wines and Irish produce in the company of renowned winemakers.
Alex Van Beek, general manager of Château Giscours, and Lorenzo Pasquini, estate manager of the vineyard at Château d’Yquem, will be taking part this year.
Starting from €1,625 per person sharing, the two-night experience – suitable for aspiring as well as experienced connoisseurs – includes dinner on each evening with wines, a wine masterclass, lunch on Saturday, and breakfast each morning.
Château d’Yquem
The team at Ashford Castle has committed to using produce from the estate’s kitchen gardens alongside produce from the castle’s local suppliers.
Executive chef Liam Finnegan has devised a menu to pair with Château d’Yquem.
From the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, Château d’Yquem is a premier cru supérieur and widely acclaimed as one of the most reputable sweet wines in the world.
Sustainability
Earlier this month, Ashford Castle received five awards at the European Sustainable Tourism Awards.
The 800-year-old castle was awarded in the categories of Best Local Gastronomy, Best Luxury Eco Accommodation, Best Sustainable Historic Hotel, Best Sustainable Pet-Friendly Hotel, and Best Sustainable Accommodation in Ireland.
The awards are organised by Quartz Inn Hotels and were created to encourage a more eco-friendly and responsible future for the tourism industry.
