Andras Hotels has applied for permission to refurbish the former Northern Bank building in the Co. Antrim town of Portrush and develop six serviced apartments alongside a café bar on the premises.
According to The Belfast Telegraph, Andras Hotels wishes to restore the original fabric of the building, which is located adjacent to the site of a proposed 87-bedroom Andras Hotel on Main Street in Portrush.
"Really Excited"
Commenting on the company's plans, Rajesh Rana of Andras Hotels said, "We are really excited about the prospect of restoring this fine bank building and bringing it back to active use and we are committed to maintaining the architectural interest and integrity of the building."
He continued, "We see the former Bank project as being part of our hotel proposal, as the apartments will be operated from the hotel as serviced accommodation.
"They will be one and two-bedroom apartments, suitable for families, golfers and tourists visiting the north coast."
Rana added that the firm's "intention is to have the apartments completed in time for the Open Championship in July next year."
