A new report from Construction Information Services (CIS) has revealed that almost 3,000 hotel rooms are in the planning pipeline for Dublin city and its immediate environs.
As reported by The Irish Independent, figures compiled by CIS reveal that in 2018 alone, plans have been either submitted or approved for 35 hotels with a combined total of 2,961 bedrooms. Meanwhile, an additional 44 hotels comprising 3,903 bedrooms are at tender award or construction stage in the capital, bringing the total number of hotels due for delivery to 79.
Dublin City Council Area
Planning applications have been submitted for 20 developments in the Dublin City Council area this year to date, with 15 developments having been given the green light in 2018 thus far, while 11 hotel developments are currently at a tender or contract award stage.
Construction of 982 bedrooms is expected to start by year’s end with 33 hotels currently under construction in the council area expected to be completed by 2020, delivering 2,425 new bedrooms.
