The Radisson RED Galway has announced the appointment of Aidan Donohue as general manager of the hotel, soon to open in Crown Square.
It will be Ireland’s first Radisson RED hotel and feature 177 rooms, a rooftop bar, and 400 square metres of meeting space.
Originally from Loughrea, in Galway, Donohue graduated in 2015 with a degree in business and marketing from the University of Limerick. He began his career with various leadership positions within the Só Hotel Group, starting at Castletroy Park Hotel & Leisure Club.
During his time at the Só Hotel Group, Donohue expanded his knowledge through further studies in hotel industry analytics with STR Global, and revenue management and CRM practices.
Prior to joining Radisson RED, Donohue served as the general manager at the Athlone Springs Hotel, where he led a team that earned multiple industry awards.
Madeline Riley, CEO of Radisson RED Galway, expressed her delight in Donohue joining the team, stating that his local connections and industry expertise made him the perfect choice to lead this exciting new hotel opening.
Designed by Henry J Lyons Architects as part of the new Crown Square development, Radisson RED Galway will be an eight-storey building with views over Galway Bay and the hills of Clare from the rooftop bar and restaurant.
The new hotel will be a five-minute drive from Galway’s main train station, approximately one hour’s drive from Shannon Airport, and approximately a two-hour drive from Dublin City and Dublin Airport.
The overall project, which will see a €40 million investment, is being developed by the Galway-based Rhatigan Group and built by the long-established JJ Rhatigan & Company.
