Hodson Bay Group Planning New 263-bedroom Hotel for Dublin

One of the few remaining hotel groups owned by an Irish family, the Hodson Bay Group, is planning to build a new €40 million hotel in the Coombe area of Dublin.

The Sunday Times reports that the development, which will on a site close to St Patrick's cathedral (pictured), will include some 236 bedrooms and will be six storeys at its highest point.

The Hodson Bay Group, which is run by the O’Sullivan family, currently owns over 500 bedrooms in Ireland, including the Hodson Bay Hotel on the shores of Lough Ree, the Galway Bay Hotel, and the Sheraton Athlone Hotel.

The report states that "the proposed development also includes a cafe/bar and restaurant and meeting/conference facilities, with a total floor area of 13,770 sq m", adding that in the year to February 2015, the group enjoyed a turnover of €27 million and pre-tax profits of €1.5 million.
