Zambrero Ireland Opens 25th Location

Zambrero, the Mexican-inspired restaurant chain, has reached a milestone of 25 locations in Ireland, with former rugby player Darragh Fanning at the helm.

Fanning opened the first Zambrero location on Dublin’s Hatch Street in February 2016.

‘Phenomenal Success’

“In just eight years, we’ve achieved phenomenal success with Zambrero in Ireland,” said general manager Fanning.

“The Irish have really embraced the brand and its ethos in every town and city we’ve opened in.”

After successfully opening three outlets, Fanning then secured his first franchise in September 2018, located at Beacon South Quarter, in Sandyford, Dublin.

The brand entered Covid with just five locations and has since experienced fast growth, reaching 25 locations with an opening in Rathmines earlier this summer.

“Our aim is to bring Zambrero to even more Irish communities, with a target to reach 30 outlets in 2025, building to 45 outlets in total,” said Fanning.

Plate 4 Plate

Zambrero is dedicated to its Plate 4 Plate initiative, which ensures that for every burrito or bowl purchased, a meal is donated to someone in need through Zambrero’s distribution partner, Rise Against Hunger.

To date, Zambrero has donated over 81 million meals to people in need.

Record 100,000 Meals Packed

As part of this initiative, since 2022, Zambrero Ireland has held annual meal-packing events on #Plate4PlateDay, when volunteers come together to help pack meals for those in need.

Set to take place this year on Saturday 5 October, Darragh and the team at Zambrero Ireland aim to beat last year’s record of 100,000 meals packed.

Countrywide Competition

Zambrero is marking its achievement of 25 restaurants with a countrywide competition, which will run until 25 August.

During this time, all Zambrero meals purchased in store or ordered online will feature a QR code sticker, one of which will bag the winning scanner a trip to Mexico, with other prizes including free meals and discount codes.
