Low-cost airline WOW Air announced that that it will sell transatlantic flights for as little as €149 one-way.
The Icelandic-based company, founded in 2012 by Skuli Morgensen, will operate flights to Boston and Washington DC from Dublin in October. The flight, however, does include a two-hour stopover in Reykjavik.
WOW announced last month that it will become the first operator to fly a direct route form Dublin to Iceland, with flights to Reykjavik expected to cost about €50 one-way.
The Dublin to Reykjavik flights will operate three times a week, and will offer connecting flights to the US on these days. The flights will depart Dublin on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
WOW's short-haul Airbus planes will operate the usual no-frills standards and customers will be charged for checked bags. However, at €149 it offers great value against any flight currently available to Irish flyers.
