In Waterford, under the shadow of the thirteenth-century Greyfriars Abbey, is the Churchyard, an acoustic venue and home to a stage that will come to life with a series of free open-air concerts every Saturday evening from 3 June to 26 August.

Regional and national live music acts will perform for the crowds at the Churchyard Sessions this summer, with acts such as Paddy Casey, Mundy, Duke Special, the Papa Zitas and Liam Ó Maonlaí, among others, set to perform.
The event is a joint initiative between the Reg Bar and the Munster Bar, as part of Waterford’s Summer in the City events.
Opening the Churchyard Sessions this summer is Richie Hayes and Band on 3 June. Paddy Casey will perform on 10 June, the Unusual Suspects on 17 June, and the Papa Zitas on 24 June. Brass & Co. take to the stage on 1 July, and Mundy will take the 8 July spot, with Thank Funk on 15 July and Duke Special on 22 July. Liam Ó Maonlaí will close July on the 29th, and over the August bank holiday weekend, a Spraoi special will be on offer. On 12 August, the Strobes will take to the stage, and Mad Ferritt will perform on 19 August, with Dave Lofts and Band bringing the summer sessions to a close on Saturday 26 August.
In addition, every Friday night from 8pm, Dave Lofts will play live outside on the quayside at the Viking longboat replica.

All of the Churchyard Sessions are free, and access is offered on a first-come-first-served basis. Each gig will commence at 8pm, with support acts beginning at 6.30pm. Further information can be found at thereg.ie.
