United Airlines has resumed nonstop flights between Shannon and its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport, for the summer season. The route will operate daily between now and October 26 (westbound).
Access To New York And Connecting Flights
In a statement on Shannon Airport's website, United Airlines country sales manager for Ireland, Martina Coogan, said, "We are delighted to operate this nonstop service between Shannon and New York/Newark again this summer. [In addition to offering] our customers from the west of Ireland direct access to New York City, [this route provides them] with over 60 nonstop connections from our New York/Newark hub [so they] can also conveniently connect to destinations across the US, Canada, Mexico and Central America."
A "Hugely Popular" Route
Meanwhile, Shannon Airport managing director Andrew Murphy commented, "United Airlines’ Newark service is hugely popular among inbound and outbound passengers at Shannon. It’s a service that confirms the strength of our transatlantic market, a market that performs for our airlines and passengers year in year out. The fact that it operates into a hugely important hub not only ensures we have additional direct connectivity between here and the east coast of the US, but also one-stop connectivity to so many other destinations. We are delighted to have United Airlines, a long standing and much appreciated partner at Shannon Airport, back again, and look forward to another busy summer and deepening our relationship with them."
