Dublin has reclaimed its spot as the number one place to visit in Ireland, pipping Killarney on TripAdvisor's Top 10 Irish destinations.
The travel website's Travellers' Choice Awards, now in its 14th year, ranks cities and towns according to user reviews. Dublin beat out Killarney, last year's winner, with Galway, Dingle and Cork rounding out the top five.
As reported in the Irish Independent, there were two surprise entries in the list, with Cong in Co. Mayo and Newmarket-on-Fergus in Co. Clare coming in at sixth and tenth spot, respectively.
The inclusion of these lesser-known towns is probably aided by the five-star hotels they host, which both score highly on TripAdvisor ratings. Ashford Castle in Cong has a 5-star rating on the site, while Dromoland Castle in Newmarket-on-Fergus boasts a 4.5-star rating.
Dublin ranked 22nd on the Top 25 European Destinations, while London beat out Marrakech, Rome and New York to be named the top global destination.
The Top 10 are as follows:
1. Dublin
2. Killarney, Co. Kerry
3. Galway
4. Dingle, Co. Kerry
5. Cork
6. Cong, Co. Mayo
7. Westport, Co. Mayo
