Galway 2020 was launched in Belgium at an event in Brussels this week, which was attended by members of the diaspora and partners from cities and regions attending this week's European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels, as well as Belgian travel professionals and journalists.
The launch of Galway 2020 in Belgium was supported by Tourism Ireland as part of its programme of promotions to highlight the island of Ireland to its "culturally curious" audience in Belgium. Tourism Ireland's message is that Galway 2020 will offer Belgian holidaymakers a unique cultural and artistic experience.
"World-Class Festivals And Cultural Experiences"
Danielle Neyts of Tourism Ireland Belgium commented, "We're delighted to announce Galway 2020 here in Belgium, and to highlight the city as European Capital of Culture next year. Tourism Ireland's message for our 'culturally curious' audience is that the island of Ireland offers world-class festivals and cultural experiences. 'Culturally curious' travellers are typically independent, active sightseers, looking to visit new places and expand their experience by exploring culture, history and landscapes. Our aim is to encourage this important demographic to travel to Galway and the island of Ireland."
