Tourism Ireland stated, "Tourism Ireland's 'drive' to restart golf tourism to Ireland is under way this week - at the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) in Wales.

"Sixteen (16) golf and tourism operators from Ireland have joined Tourism Ireland at this important event for the global golf travel community - which brings together golf travel professionals from around the world, including top golf tour operators.

"The companies from Ireland are engaging in four days of one-to-one, pre-scheduled appointments and networking - which provide an excellent opportunity to negotiate and exchange vital contracts for 2022. As we begin to rebuild our overseas tourism business, promoting golf holidays on the island of Ireland will be a focus for Tourism Ireland in key markets around the world.

"Louise Finnegan, Tourism Ireland's Head of Business Partnership, said, 'IGTM is a really great opportunity to showcase our world-class golf. This is just one element of Tourism Ireland's busy promotional programme to encourage more golfers from around the globe to consider a holiday in Ireland, as we restart tourism from overseas. We're also taking every opportunity to highlight the fact that The Open will return to Royal Portrush in 2025 and the Ryder Cup will take place at Adare Manor in 2027. Tourism Ireland will be pulling out all the stops once again to leverage the tourism potential of these prestigious sporting events in our important golf markets around the world."

In a separate statement, Tourism Ireland said, "Tourism Ireland is teaming up with leading golf publisher Golf Digest in a new campaign to promote Ireland to golfers across the United States.

"The partnership involves two videos fronted by Matt Ginella (former NBC Golf Channel travel expert), which showcase some of our great golf courses, as well as some of the many great experiences and attractions on offer here. The videos feature Matt reconnecting with family and friends and highlight some of our lesser-known 'hidden gems'.

"To view the video highlighting golf in the South West, click here. It features Ballybunion, Tralee, Waterville and Lahinch, as well as the Dingle Sea Safari, a GAA football match and the Tarbert to Killimer ferry.

"The video showcasing golf in the North West and Northern Ireland features Carne, Rosapenna, Narin & Portnoo, Cruit Island, Royal Portrush and Castlerock; it also includes a Donegal tweed experience with Magee 1866, a visit to Harry's Shack in Portstewart and a 'Whiskey on the Rocks' Giant experience with Bushmills at the Giant's Causeway. "The partnership will deliver over 6 million impressions (or opportunities to see), with both videos being promoted extensively on the digital platforms of Golf Digest, including on its YouTube channel.

"Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland's Head of North America, said, "We are delighted to partner with Golf Digest, to showcase our world-class golf to a huge audience of American golfers - and potential future holidaymakers for Ireland. We want to highlight that Ireland offers US golfers the complete package - with some of the very best golf in the world, as well as lots of great experiences and attractions. The videos will remind viewers that now is the time to book their golfing vacation to Ireland."
