Ireland was showcased to 50 tour operators from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland at Tourism Ireland’s 2018 Nordic trade workshop in Copenhagen. Irish Ambassador to Denmark, Clíona Manahan, and British Ambassador to Denmark, Dominic Schroeder, addressed the guests attending the workshop.
17 tourism companies from Ireland took part in the workshop, meeting and doing business with the Nordic tour operators, to encourage them to extend their Ireland offering, or to include Ireland for the first time, in their brochures and programmes.
“We are delighted that so many influential tour operators from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland have taken the time to come and hear about the many things to see and do on a holiday on the island of Ireland,” said Julie McLaughlin, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for the Nordic Region. “2017 was a really good year for visitor numbers to Ireland from the Nordic Region, with the most recent CSO figures for October to December showing an increase of 26.4% – an extra 13,400 Nordic visitors compared with the same three-month period in 2016. We will roll out an extensive programme of promotional activity once again in 2018, to build on this success and continue to grow Nordic visitor numbers.”
