Tourism Ireland has launched a golf campaign in the US and welcomed the announcement that the Aer Lingus College Football Classic will take place in Dublin in August of 2022.
Golf Campaign
To coincide with the start of the PGA Championship in South Carolina, Tourism Ireland in the US is rolling out a campaign on the NBC Golf Channel.
Three new 60-second videos showcasing Ireland, which you can watch below, that feature some of the island’s top golf courses including Mount Juliet, Royal Dublin, County Louth, Waterville, Adare Manor, Lahinch, Ballyliffin, Royal Portrush and Royal County Down will air on the channel.
The videos will also air on NBC Golf Channel in the US later this year around other big tournaments such as the US Open, The Open Championship and the Ryder Cup.
The aim of the campaign is to keep Ireland front and centre in the minds of American golfers in order to capitalise on the demand for travel, once Ireland is open again for overseas visitors. The message of the compaign is that "Ireland is waiting and will greet you with a warm welcome when it’s time to travel again".
Tourism Ireland’s head of North America, Alison Metcalfe stated, "With millions of people across the US set to tune in to the PGA Championship on the NBC Golf Channel over the coming days, our new videos are a great way to shine a spotlight on some of our top golf courses. Our aim is to remind viewers that Ireland offers some of the very best golf in the world, as well as spectacular scenery and fantastic experiences. The campaign will help ensure that Ireland stays 'top of mind' among US golfers, until such time as they can visit again."
Aer Lingus College Football Classic
Meanwhile, welcoming the announcement that the Aer Lingus College Football Classic will take place in Dublin in August of 2022, Tourism Ireland chief executive Niall Gibbons stated, "The announcement of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic for August 2022 is really good news. As we get ready to restart international tourism to the island of Ireland, the game between the Northwestern Wildcats and the University of Nebraska will deliver a very welcome boost for tourism from the United States, with about 23,000 people expected to travel here from the US and Europe. Our message to the teams and their fans is that we cannot wait to roll out the ‘green carpet’ and welcome them to Dublin and Ireland.
"Tourism Ireland in the United States is working closely with Anthony Travel, the official travel company for both colleges, and other travel partners, to maximise the tourism benefits of the game. I am confident that the Aer Lingus College Football Classic will be a truly wonderful opportunity to showcase Ireland and, more generally, the many attractions we offer as a holiday destination."
