Tourism Ireland CEO Niall Gibbons attended a meeting with Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council this week. He updated the councillors on Tourism Ireland's programme of activity to promote the Causeway Coastal Route and Northern Ireland around the world.
Gibbons said, “I was delighted to be in Coleraine and to meet with the Council, to discuss the extensive promotional programme which Tourism Ireland is undertaking around the world this year to build on the success of 2017 and continue to grow overseas visitor numbers to the Causeway Coast and Northern Ireland. I also took the opportunity to visit some of the superb visitor attractions in the area and meet with local tourism providers.
“In 2018, Tourism Ireland continues to create ‘stand out’ for Northern Ireland around the world, highlighting wonderful experiences like the Causeway Coastal Route. We continue to leverage our connection with Game of Thrones and we are also promoting Northern Ireland as a top golf destination, in particular the fact that the 148th Open will take place at Royal Portrush in 2019. We are committed to ensuring that Northern Ireland continues to increase its share of the global travel business.”
Overseas tourism delivers about £586 million per year for the Northern Ireland economy, helping to sustain over 61,000 jobs in local communities.
