The DAA's Aer Rianta International unit is set to oversee a significant redevelopment of the retail operations in Dublin Airport's Terminal 2, which will include the creation of a new 14,500 square foot duty free outlet, a large liquor store and an assortment of new stores for items such as perfume, luggage and jewellery.
According to tender documents seen by The Irish Independent, the DAA is looking for companies to commit to working on the revamp over a three year period. The airport operator is reportedly aiming to assemble a panel of six providers under a framework contract, who will subsequently bid for redevelopment jobs as they come up.
While the refurbishments panel will be working for the DAA, it is thought likely that, due to their familiarity with the airport and its security procedures, its members will also be in the best position to tender work in the concessions when a short-list of contractors is compiled.
