New data from the CSO has revealed that the number of overseas visitors to Ireland increased by 6.9% to a record 10.6 million in 2018.
As noted by Fáilte Ireland, this means that an additional 680,000 visitors travelled to Ireland last year compared to 2017.

The number of British visitors to Ireland in 2018 rose 0.8% to 3.76 million, while the number of North American visitors saw the strongest growth, rising 13.4% to 2.38 million.
Meanwhile, the number of visitors from Mainland Europe increased 9.5% to 3.81 million, with German visitors numbers increasing 20%) and Italian visitor number rising 12.6%.
Visitors from all other areas (661,000) grew by 6.7%.
