The number of passengers that travelled through Kerry Airport increased by more than 3,000 year-on-year in 2019 to almost 370,000, according to the airport's annual report.
As reported by The Irish Examiner, the airport recorded a profit of more than €1 million for last year after crediting the receipt of significant grant funding from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport.
COVID-19 Impact
However, Kerry Airport has been majorly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic this year, with only 808 passengers travelling through the airport during the second quarter of 2020. During the same period in 2019, 102,534 passengers travelled through the airport.
Additionally, Ryanair has removed services from Kerry Airport to Manchester and Berlin from its autumn schedule, and the route between Kerry and Alicante ended earlier than expected.
