The Galway International Arts Festival was highlighted in Brooklyn, New York, at an event hosted by Tourism Ireland and attended by influential American arts and lifestyle journalists, as well as representatives of the travel trade in New York.
The Galway International Arts Festival is one of the many festivals being promoted by Tourism Ireland around the world this year, particularly to Ireland's ‘culturally curious’ audience.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s head of North America, said, “We were delighted to host a showcase of the Galway International Arts Festival here in New York. Events and festivals like the Galway International Arts Festival are a really important part of our overall tourism offering and are a key message in our promotions – particularly to our ‘culturally curious’ audience.
“2017 was the fifth record year in a row for visitor numbers to the island of Ireland from North America – when we welcomed around 1.83 million American and Canadian visitors, delivering revenue of €1.67 billion for the economy. Tourism Ireland is determined to ensure that growth continues and we will roll out an extensive programme of promotions again in 2018 to highlight Galway and the island of Ireland here in the United States and elsewhere around the world.”
