New Research Shows Eight Out Of 10 Parents Plan to Staycation In 2022

New research suggests that families plan to enjoy their summer by holidaying at home this year, as insights show that eight out of 10 parents will staycation in Ireland, with Kerry, Galway and Cork proving to be the most popular destinations.

Details

The research, carried out by ParentsandBrands, asked parents about their plans for the summer, with Ireland's mums and dads excited to take some downtime. Furthermore, insights from parents included what their favourite county in Ireland is to vacation, what factors matter most when deciding on a family staycation, booking accommodation and what they most enjoy about a holiday or short break in Ireland.

This research tells ParentsandBrands that the things enjoyed most about a holiday or short break in Ireland are:

  1. The beautiful scenery and being able to explore the country
  2. Being able to go by car
  3. Not having to go to the airport
  4. Being able to travel close to home and with less hassle
  5. Food and the people were also mentioned by parents as something they highly appreciate

When asked why "holidaying at home" was so high on the priority list now, parents said that staycationing is much more convenient, as there is less stress of packing for flights or long travel. They added that getting to see more of the beautiful country with family was a plus.

Other findings from the research were that hotels are still the top pick for family accommodation choices while value offers and a swimming pool are key factors in choosing which hotel they stay at.

When it comes to researching the perfect spot, over a quarter of parents surveyed said that they research and book online with the cheapest providers while 18% book online directly with the accommodation.

When it comes to factors that are important to parents when it comes to choosing to staycation, offers and value for money topped the list.

Statement By Co-Founder Of ParentsandBrands

Commenting on the results Jill Holtz, co-founder of ParentsandBrands, stated, "It's great to see so many families planning at least a short break if not their main holiday in Ireland this year. They are looking for family offers so there's definitely an opportunity for the tourism sector to help this segment by understanding more about what parents need and want, and to showcase good value to this key consumer segment."
