A number of new and returning air services have been announced for airports on the island of Ireland.
Belfast International Airport
According to a statement published on BelfastAirport.com, TUI has announced that it will operate four services from Belfast International Airport to Melbourne Orlando International Airport in Florida in 2023 on 22 June, 29 June, 6 July and 13 July of next year.
According to a separate subsequent statement published on BelfastAirport.com, easyJet has launched a twice weekly service from Belfast International Airport to Menorca, which will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays until 29 October of this year.
According to another subsequent statement published on BelfastAirport.com, more than 4,000 easyJet services from Belfast are now available to book for between 1 March and 8 May of next year.
Dublin Airport
According to a statement published on MediaCentre.AerLingus.com, Aer Lingus has restarted directed flights from Dublin Airport to LAX in Los Angeles.
According to a statement published on DublinAirport.com, Blue Islands has launched a direct service from Dublin Airport to Jersey that will operate six times weekly until October of this year.
Belfast City Airport
According to a statement published on BelfastCityAirport.com, Royal Caribbean International has launched a British Airways charter in partnership with Belfast City Airport for individuals sailing on Wonder of the Seas ship this summer, with direct flights operating from Belfast City to Barcelona from 3 July until 18 September of this year.
According to a separate subsequent statement published on BelfastCityAirport.com, Aer Lingus Regional service operator Emerald Airlines has launched new services from Belfast City Airlines to Glasgow and Exeter, with services to Glasgow operating daily and services to Exeter operating up to five times weekly.
Other Island Of Ireland Airport News
In other island of Ireland airport news, in a statement published on CorkAirport.com, Cork Airport has welcomed the announcement €5.46 million in capital funding under the Regional Airports Programme 2021-2025, which the airport said will support it in the continued upgrade of its infrastructure and bolster its commitment to safety and sustainability.
According to a statement published on DAA.ie, Dublin Airport and Cork Airport operator DAA CEO Dalton Philips is planning to step down from his current role at the DAA in September of this year, and has informed the board that he has been offered and has accepted the position of Greencore Group plc CEO. A competitive search process for a new DAA chief executive is now underway, according to the statement published on DAA.ie.
In a statement published on ShannonGroup.ie, Shannon Airport operator Shannon Group has welcomed a €10 million Ryanair investment and the creation of 200 jobs for the region, as the airline opens its first aircraft heavy maintenance facility in Ireland at Shannon Airport. Shannon Group has secured Ryanair as the new tenant for a 5,220 m2 hangar that is known as Hangar 5, with the airline being set to invest €10 million in the three-bay facility, and the new facility will support the maintenance of Ryanair's fleet as it increases in size to 600 aircraft by 2026, according to the statement published on ShannonGroup.ie.
