Waterford Airport has announced three new services to the UK, which will be operated by a new airline named Aer Southeast. The routes will run to London Luton, Manchester and Birmingham from July 24 using a Saab 340 aircraft, with flight prices starting at €79 one way.
According to The Irish Independent, Aer Southeast is an Irish aviation start-up run by SkyTruckers Ltd. The routes will represent the first time that Waterford Airport has operated a scheduled commercial flight in more than thirteen months. The last such flight left the airport on June 16, 2016 and since then it has served as a base for corporate jets, leisure flying, training and the Coast Guard's Search and Rescue helicopter.
The airport will operate a total of 12 flights per week, six of which will be to Luton, with three each to Manchester and Birmingham.
Waterford Airport CEO Desmond O'Flynn commented, "We look forward to working closely with SkyTruckers as once again regular and sustainable air links to key cities in the UK are operated over the coming months and years."
