According to the latest Savills-Pinergy Energy Monitor, energy consumption in the Irish hospitality sector is currently at 56% of normal levels due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the current level of energy consumption in the hospitality sector is 26% higher than the level that was recorded between March and May, when the sector's energy consumption was at 30% of normal levels.
"A Significant Increase"
The Irish Independent quotes Savills Ireland head of energy and sustainability Sharyn McAndrew as saying that since hotels and restaurants reopened on June 29, "there has been a significant increase in consumption across the country, which can be attributed to the rise in staycations."
