Cork Airport will operate flights to the US for the first time in 50 years, as Norwegian Air will schedule flights to Boston in early 2016.
The airline will fly low-cost flights to Boston three times a week from as early as April next year, with flights starting from €315 return.
The service from Cork Airport could be expanded to New York and Barcelona late next year and into 2017. The airline has announced its ambitions to grow in Ireland and Britain although refused to give specifics on routes.
Cork Airport responded to the news via Twitter, saying it "can't comment on speculation as we don't discuss talks that we may or may not be having with airlines."
