Fáilte Ireland has secured a total of 70 conferences for next year, worth a total of €84 million to the economy, as business tourism expands in Ireland.
Through its 'Meet in Ireland' brand, Fáilte Ireland has already won a number of major conferences to be held in the country, a number of which will be held in Dublin's Convention Centre (pictured). Currently 218 international conferences are being bid on by the Business Tourism Team, with a potential value of €302 million. So far 117 conferences have been confirmed for this year.
According to CIT Magazine, Fáilte Ireland will be launching a programme this week at IMEX Frankfurt to assist large groups hosting in Ireland, giving financial assistance and practical advice for MICE (meeting, incentives, conferences and events).
"Business tourism remains a priority for Fáilte Ireland. To date an impressive 117 conferences are confirmed to take place this year with an estimated combined value of €57 million to the Irish economy," said Miriam Kennedy, head of business Tourism, Fáilte Ireland.
The tourism authority is targeting an eight per cent increase for revenue related to business tourism. Corporate tourism is a lucrative business for the Irish economy, as the average delegate spends twice as much per day as a leisure visitor.
