Readers of Rough Guides, the popular travel guides, have rated Dublin as the second friendliest city in the world.
Dublin came in second after Glasgow and ahead of Montreal in a reader vote. Liverpool and Tokyo rounded out the top five.
In Rough Guides' description of Dublin it says, "spend a weekend enjoying the Georgian townhouses, squares and historic churches among some of the friendliest people in the world.”
Welcoming the news, Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland said, “Again and again, our research shows us that the friendliness of our people is one of our unique selling points.
“It is the warm welcome and the ’craic’ here that resonates with our overseas visitors and makes Dublin and Ireland such a great choice for a short break or holiday.

This is yet another welcome accolade for the Irish tourism and hospitality industries after Condé Nast Traveler, the US travel magazine, named Dublin as the fifth friendliest urban destination only a few weeks ago.
