The number of people that passed through Dublin Airport decreased by 13% in May when compared to pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels in May of 2019 to a little more than 2.6 million, but passenger traffic in May increased by 2.4 million passengers when compared to May of last year, according to a statement published on Dublin Airport's website.
Europe, UK And North America Traffic
Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe declined by 5% compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels in the fifth month of the year, but increased by 1.4 million travellers compared to the same month last year, while passenger traffic to and from the UK declined by approximately 22% compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels to close to 700,000 passengers, which was an increase of 650,000 when compared to May of 2021, and passenger traffic to and from North America declined by approximately 33% compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels to approximately 320,000 passengers, which was an increase of approximately 290,000 passengers compared to May of 2021, according to the statement published on Dublin Airport's website.
Other International And Domestic Traffic
Meanwhile, international passenger traffic to and from the Middle East declined by 8% compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels in May to approximately 51,000 passengers, which was an increase of 47,000 when compared to 2021, and the number of people who travelled on domestic routes in May of this year increased by 20% compared to March of 2019 to 11,000, which was an increase of close to 9,000 when compared to May of 2021, according to the statement published on Dublin Airport's website.
First Five Months
The number of people who passed through Dublin Airport during the first five months of 2021 declined by approximately 26% compared to the same period in 2019 to close to 9.2 million, which was an increase of 1,138% when compared with the same period in 2021.
