Dublin Airport Opens New Hub For Connecting Passengers

A new €16 million transfer facility has opened at Dublin Airport close to Terminal 2, catering specifically for passengers transferring between flights.

According to The Irish Independent, the three-storey hub is expected to quadruple the airport's connecting passenger business and includes airline information desks, boarding card checkpoints and immigration and customs facilities, allowing transfer passengers to complete "a one-stop flight connection process".

Rising Numbers

Dublin Airport statistics indicate that the number of connecting passengers travelling through the airport has grown from 550,000 in 2013 to close to 1.6 million in 2017, with the number increasing an additional 17% this year so far.

Dublin Airport managing director Vincent Harrison commented, "We have been growing Dublin Airport as a connecting gateway between Europe and North America steadily over the past five years and this new transfer facility will help us to further expand that business."
