Campaign Continues To Add Seven Heads Peninsula To Wild Atlantic Way

This week will see decision makers for Fáilte Ireland "forensically exploring" the Seven Heads peninsula in West Cork to consider whether it should be added to the Wild Atlantic Way.

The request to expand the tourist route to include the peninsula was submitted by a local campaign group, who met with Fáilte Ireland representative Fiona Monaghan and tourism minister Brendan Griffin last month to discuss the possibility.

Cork county councillor and committee member John O'Sullivan told The Irish Examiner, "Fáilte Ireland was committed to returning on August 31 in response to Minster Griffin's request for them to engage with the action group and Cork County Council, and to examine the proposed route, its advantages, and highlight any issues to overcome before a review to include the route would occur. The minister has assured us of his complete support and hopes this engagement will result in the Seven Heads peninsula being added to the Wild Atlantic Way."
