A business case concerning the sustainability of City of Derry Airport will be presented to Derry City and Strabane District Council in the next few weeks.
As reported by The Irish News, the business case, which involves a report about the viability of City of Derry Airport by aviation consultancy firm York Aviation, will be shared with government departments in a bid to acquire extra funding for the airport.
"A Critical Case"
The Irish News quotes Derry City and Strabane District Council's head of strategic finance and funding, Alfie Dallas, as saying, "The purpose of the report was basically to inform of all the options to the airport and it will now form part of the business case.
"That business case is almost complete and will come before council in the next few weeks once complete.
"It's obviously a critical case for our longer term sustainability in that we need government support to assist us with the airport."
2020 Funding
A £1.23 million funding package was announced for City of Derry Airport in November of 2020 to keep the airport operational until March of 2021.
