Bord Bia Promotes 'Origin Green' Initiative

Ireland's food reputation overseas received a boost in November, as Bord Bia played host to 30 leading trade food and drink journalists from across Europe, as part of a two-day sustainability itinerary to promote Origin Green, Ireland’s new sustainability development program.

The trip included a presentation on Origin Green, a group briefing on recent research findings, a trip to a Bord Bia Quality Assured Beef farm in Kilkenny and a trip to dairy company Glanbia where the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney T.D also addressed the delegation. Elsewhere, Irish beef has been selected as a key ingredient for Bocuse d’Or, the esteemed French and world renowned, culinary competition.

The Bocuse d’Or is held every two years in Lyon, France, and next takes place over two days at the end of January. The selection of Irish beef followed a rigorous and lengthy process by the Bocuse d’Or International Organisation Committee, and is a ringing endorsement of the quality of Irish beef. Pictured at the announcement was Ross Lewis, Chef, Chapter One, Bernadette Byrne, Bord Bia and Florent Suplisson, Director of Bocuse d’Or.
