Tayto Launches Crisps Bags 'As Gaeilge'

Irish crisps producer Tayto announced that it is adding labelling 'as Gaeilge' to its crisps bags sold in Ireland.

The standard size impulse bags will now be doubly labelled in English and in Irish, in a move that is “here to stay,” the company told Newstalk.

Following a two-year promotional campaign and the success of its 2016 St Patrick’s Day pack, the company said it hoped its ‘Irish upgrade’ would expand to more of its crisp and snack bags in the future.

"It received such a positive response that now all Tayto impulse bags will have the dual language and it's here to stay," the company said.

The upgrade will mean the following additions for Tayto:

Cheese & Onion is now Brioscáin Phrátaí Faoi Bhlas Cáise & Oinniúin, Salt & Vinegar becomes Brioscáin Phrátaí Faoi Bhlas Salainn & Finéagair, and Prawn Cocktail becomes Brioscáin Phrátaí Faoi Bhlas Manglaim Cloicheán.

The company tweeted a side-by-side image of the new and old bags earlier today, urging its followers to spot the difference.
