Local restaurants, hotels and food producers from the Co. Mayo town will join forces to "showcase the wide array of eateries and food producers in the immediate area", reports the Galway Advertiser.
Heading up the organising committee is Jonathan Keane, Head Chef of The Lodge at Ashford Castle, with the organisers stating that the festival will 'showcase the wonderful produce of the west in a fun and educational way, and is supported by among others, Fáilte Ireland, European Region of Gastronomy 2018, and Cong Tidy Towns'.
Events across the three days of the event will include an official opening in St. Feichín’s Kitchen, the festival marquee, storytelling and Bonfire Night Pig On A Spit, while there will also be talks on nutrition, foraging, food awareness and healthy eating advice, alongside beer tasting, street food and cooking demos.
One of Ireland's leading chefs, JP McMahon, culinary director of the EatGalway restaurant group, will hold a cooking demo on Sunday (26th) at 2pm.
