Irish publicans, wholesalers and retailers have received word from Diageo and Heineken that the price of their products are increasing.
The Irish Times reports that both companies recently wrote to drinks vendors to advise them of a 2.3% rise on beers, which will add approximately 4% to the cost of a pint.
A statement from Diageo explained, “Like all commercial organisations, Diageo is experiencing rising costs in doing business in Ireland. This increase is in line with current inflation trends and it is necessary to ensure we can continue to make significant investments in our business and in the wider hospitality sector.”
