Irish Distillers has confirmed reports made earlier this week that it is considering the construction of a new distillery to cope with the increasing demand for Jameson whiskey worldwide.
The Irish Independent reports that the company has issued a statement saying, "We are currently examining all options to increase our production capacity to meet projected demand and building a new distillery is one of them."
Aiming To Drive Growth
The statement also asserted, "Our objective is to drive the growth of our portfolio of premium Irish whiskey brands supported by the strength of the Pernod Ricard global distribution network. We take a long-term view and naturally, as we grow, there are implications for our business."
The statement follows news this week that Jameson sales reached 7.3 million during the 2017/2018 financial year.
