The team behind Cooney's Irish Cider are celebrating international recognition after winning two accolades at the 2017 World Cider Awards in London.
The event selects the very best of internationally recognised styles of drinks and is presided over by a panel of international experts. This year's ceremony saw Cooney’s Irish Cider taking home the trophies for 'Best Irish Sparkling Cider' and 'Best Style'.
Peter Cooney of the Cooney family orchards, commented: "We are absolutely delighted with this recognition for our family cider. We have spent a lot of time talking about developing a brand from our own family orchards in Co. Meath and it’s amazing to have such international recognition so soon after release".
Meanwhile, Boyne Brewhouse, which is also owned by the Cooney family, won two accolades of its own at the affiliated 2017 World Beer Awards, also held in London.
Similar to the Cider event, the World Beer Awards is a global ceremony that selects the very best beers from around the world. Boyne Brewhouse's Saison came out on top in the 'Country Best – Ireland' category, while the company's IPA won the award for “Country Gold – Ireland”.
Boyne Brewhouse brewer Andrew Jorgenssen, said: "We take great pride in ensuring that we use only the best ingredients and our own Boyne Valley spring water to go into making our craft beers. Winning two globally recognised awards is testament to the quality of these ingredients, brewing styles and inspirations."
