Inter-Rhône, the body that represents wine growers from the Côtes du Rhône and Vallée du Rhône, has hired Virginie Charlier as its director of marketing and media, LSA-Conso.fr reports.
Charlier will assume a key role in developing the market potential for the wines of the Rhône, a key drinks sub-category in supermarkets across Europe, Asia and the United States; and in France perhaps the most prominent wine category along with those of Burgundy and Bordeaux respectively.
She will be responsible for the advertising of the appellation d'origine contrôlée wines from the Costières de Nîmes, Luberon, Ventoux, Grignan les Adhémar, the Côtes du Vivarais and the dessert wines of Muscat de Beaumes de Venise.
She said, “This appointment allows me the opportunity of working with AOC wines known worldwide by their terroirs, their cépages, and the producers who have built their reputations. The Rhône appellations contain many wine brands that are at once accessible, and bringers of emotion and pleasure."
