Diageo Ireland has reported that net sales of Guinness on the island of Ireland  were up 4% over the past 12 months, driven by the continued innovations launched through 'The Brewers Project'.

Of these, Diageo said that Hop House 13 lager is proving "a stand out success", now holding almost 3% share of lager in the Republic of Ireland.

Oliver Loomes, Country Director Diageo Ireland, said: "Off this strong growth Guinness now has 34.6% share of volume in the On Trade in the Republic of Ireland (Nielsen end of June ROI Data 2016), equating to more than one in three pints sold in a pub would be a Guinness brand."

Loomes said on the island of Ireland net sales of spirit were down 1%. Gin is still the fastest growing segment in Ireland. Tanqueray and Gordon’s have been top consumer choices in this growth with big gains in the last 12 months. Tanqueray grew 107% in volume, while Gordon’s grew 4% in volume.
