Glendalough Distillery’s seven-year-old Single Malt whiskey has won a top award in the Irish Whiskey Masters, the only Single Malt to be named a Master.
Judge and general manager of Chiswell Street Dining Rooms, Mariola Nowakowska commented, “All the whiskeys [in the competition] were fantastic, in particular Glendalough, which had incredible complexity.”
Brian Fagan, co-founder and director of Glendalough Distillery, said, “We are honoured that our traditional styles of craft whiskey are getting such global recognition.”
He added that, “We now stand among the great whiskeys and whiskey brands this country has produced. And we are proud to be the only independent distillery to have won a whiskey Master.”
This isn’t the first award won by Glendalough’s seven-year-old Single Malt, having been awarded a silver medal at the most recent San Francisco World Spirits Awards.
