New data released by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation has revealed that, at present, Brazil is producing more coffee than any other nation in the world, with upwards of 51 million bags of beans having come from the country between 2017 and 2018.
According to the Fairtrade Foundation and as reported by bbc.com, 80% of the world's coffee is produced by approximately 25 million smallholder farms. Meanwhile, information from the International Coffee Organisation indicates that the nation that consumes the most coffee on an annual basis is Finland, with figures for the country showing that 12.5 kg of coffee is consumed per person on a yearly basis.
When it comes to cost, UK consumers paid more than those of any other nation in 2016, at £11.45 per pound of soluble coffee, while Allegra Strategies revealed that with 2,755 outlets in operation, Costa was the biggest coffee brand in Europe in 2017. Furthermore, Kantar Worldpanel data revealed that lattes were the most popular coffee drinks in the UK during the year ending on February 25, 2018, with over 930 million units being sold.
