The first major step towards the building of the Holiday Inn Express in Dublin has been taken as building contracts have been awarded to a Northern Ireland-based firm.
McAleer and Rushe, based in Co. Tyrone, were awarded the €13.8 million contract, according to the Belfast Telegraph today. The firm won the contract from Findlater House Limited.
McAleer and Rushe will convert the Findlater House on O'Connell street into the proposed 198-bed Holiday Inn Express Dublin – City Centre. The plan to build the hotel was announced by InterContinental Hotels Group in summer 2014 and today saw the plan come closer to fruition.
The move is another step by InterContinental into the Irish market, as the company recently took over the Four Seasons Hotel in Dublin. It also announced it had beaten profit estimations in 2014 as the market regains strength.
The Holiday Inn Express Dublin – City Centre is due to be completed by spring 2016 and will convert the unremarkable Findlater House building to an attractive site for business and leisure travellers.
